NEWS AND RESULTS
A teenage singles competition took place on Friday, June 18th from 4pm-6pm. The prizes were kindly sponsored by Seamus Walsh Optician. Prizewinners were as follows: Girls: Winner Katie Giblin, Runner up Eimear Dunne, Third Place Leonie Hester, Fourth place Louise Walsh Boys: Winner Paul Marsden, Runner up Jun Smith, Third place Simon Conway, Plate winner Eoghan Murphy Congratulations to all who took part.
Parks Tennis 2009: We have been having a very successful season on the Tennis Courts at Tuam Tennis Club, with more than one hundred children and teenagers taking part in the club's activities each week. The club has also just completed a 4-week programme "Shreddies Parks Tennis", which is a Training Skills-based programme run nationwide each year. Club Competitions were held during the past week. Thanks to all who took part and to all who helped out on the nights. The results of the finals are as follows: Girls Under 10: Winners - Roisin Clune and Zoe Prendergast Runners-up - Eimear Quinn and Jade Halion Boys Under 10: Winner - Ben O'Connell Runner-up - Luke Giblin Girls Under 12: Winners - Laura Stenzel and Laura Rigney. Runners-up - Liza O'Regan and Neasa Collins Boys Under 12: Winners - Conor Marsden and Gavin Smith Runners-up - Cathal Heffernan and Ronan O'Grady Teenage Boys: Winner - Luke Watson Runner-up - Ryan Luddon Third Place - Paul Marsden Teenage Girls: Winner - Ailbhe Murphy Runner-up - Alice Browne Third Place - Maria Higgins
Tuam Tennis Club was also very ably represented at the Parks Tennis Regional finals in Galway Lawn Tennis Club on 28th July by the following players: Katie Giblin, Eimi Smith, Roisin Clune, John Mannion, Gavin Smith and Ben O'Connell. Tuam was represented in the Dempsey Cup by Oriana Prendergast.
The club wishes to thank the Presentation College, Currylea for granting the use of their courts.
